Write Better Online Articles and Make More Money

It's the little things

Over the past dozen years, I've populated many sites with content. I love new domains like other women love shoes. I'll buy that perfect dotcom and then build its "innards". Unless it's a visuals site (vids, pics, graphics) it's about the articles. When you have good solid and frequent content, the search engines love you and the traffic flows.

There are three very simple changes that will bump that traffic even further. They're small changes, but they matter. Since implementing them on a regular basis, I've found traffic moves better and takes my Google adsense numbers with it.

Increase traffic and earn more

- The first deals with your titles. Yes, many much wiser than me, have talked about the importance of keywords in the title for extra search ability and keyword collection. The added trick is to begin your title with one of your major keywords. If you can avoid beginning your title with anything other than a major player, do so. In this case, first impressions really are the best.

- The second small but very significant practice is to make sure that you do a check list of who, what, when, where and why. Making sure your article answers these queries is invariably going to ensure that your reader's questions are answered. Most topics, styles and types of articles can stand up to the 5 Ws. You will gain readership and reader appreciation for no loose ends in your articles.

- The third change you can make to increase traffic is to make sure your major player keywords and phrases populate the concluding three or four sentences of your article. Beginnings and endings keep search engine spiders busy and are the most read parts of a web page. Make sure you take that final opportunity to pack a traffic punch, while giving your reader a perfectly focused conclusion, packed with juicy keywords.

One of the valuable lessons I've learned over the past number of years dealing with sites, building, traffic, ads, content and all the rest, is that sometimes when things seem at a stall, the littlest change can clear the road and get things rolling again. Tweaking never ends, it would seem.

By implementing just these three small changes, you'll see your traffic increase and your earnings grow.

Hi, I actually read this hub awhile ago and it has been very thought-provoking! I wanted to let you know how very informative your article has been for me, especailly the encouraging bit about how the smallest changes can help clear a 'blockage'. Using your ideas, I made a tiny change which improved the findability of one of my hubs from unfindable to 1st place on Google for the title. Thanks! VOTE UP!
